Hawke’s Bay Stars On The Great Outdoors
Hawke’s Bay is priming itself for exposure on the popular Australian travel programme, The Great Outdoors, which is watched by millions of viewers throughout Australia, Asia and New Zealand.
The Great Outdoors television team will be in Hawke’s Bay this weekend to film Art Deco celebrations. Presenter Di Smith, also known for her roles in several of Australian’s best television dramas and movies, including Muriel’s Wedding, arrives in Hawke’s Bay on Thursday.
Filming will focus on Art Deco architecture, the parade of vintage cars, soap box derby, Gatsby picnic, period costumes and the Soft Shoe Shuffle Ball.
The Great Outdoors programme, fronted in Australia by Ernie Dingo, reaches 1.2 million Australian viewers, with programmes also broadcast throughout Asia and New Zealand. It aims to show inspirational, safe holiday options.
Hawke’s Bay Tourism is hosting the television crew and Communications Executive, Claire Hutchinson, says coverage on such a popular holiday programme is exposure for the region that money couldn’t buy.
“It is also further evidence that Hawke’s Bay is continuing to gain international recognition as a top holiday destination and is now considered a favourite among top ranking media when visiting New Zealand,” she says.
