Celebrate your concern for Auckland’s Environment

Celebrate your concern for Auckland’s Environment

30 March 2005

The Auckland Regional Council is calling for applications to the ARC Environment Awards 2005.

The biennial ARC Environment Awards acknowledge the work of those who care for the environment and natural heritage of the Auckland region and who work towards creating a sustainable environment in our ever increasing urbanised, high growth region.

ARC Environment Management Chair Dianne Glenn says the awards are an opportunity to celebrate the environmental successes of schools, youth, businesses, community groups, rural groups, and local councils.

“The ARC Environment Awards are an important part of our community engagement programme. It is important to recognise and value the work being done in the environment by individuals and communities,” she says.

The categories for the ARC Environment Awards are:

Schools – Environmental Leadership Award
Youth – Environmental Guardians of the Future Award
Business, Corporate, Industry – Environmental Leadership Award
Community – Environmental Achievement Award
Rural – Rural Sustainability Award

A special award category has been included to acknowledge 2005 as the Year of the Built Environment. The three awards under this category are:

Property Sector Urban Design Award
Local Government Urban Design Award
Neighbourhood Improvement Award

Applications for the ARC Environment Awards close on 31 May 2005. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 28 July 2005. You can enter yourself or nominate someone else.
