Lindale intersection soon open to traffic
The Lindale intersection, north of Paraparaumu on State Highway 1, will soon be open to traffic. Transit New Zealand says with three days dry weather to finish sealing the southbound off-ramp, the road should be open to traffic by Monday. The new speed limit for the majority of this section will be 70km/h.
Transit project manager Jonnette Adams says there remain some small projects to complete including: installing a median barrier, landscaping and the general clean up of the site. It will take another two weeks to build a traffic island between the northbound off and on ramps and close the direct access to the Lindale complex from SH1.
"Motorists should continue to take care and pay close attention to the new road layout. There are now new access points into Lindale and there are no longer any right turns into the complex across SH1.
"The new access into Lindale is via the new off-ramps and the link road. The existing direct access to the Lindale complex on SH1 will be closed on Monday to complete the project and give motorists a safer route into the complex," she said.
The intersection improvements will provide safe entry and exit to the side roads, Lindale Complex, Lindale Motor Park and Whitireia Polytechnic. The project completion is eleven months later than expected due to unstable ground, poor weather, contractor delays and consent issues.
