Temporary Traffic Changes on Anzac Rd
NEWS RELEASE
Temporary Traffic Changes on Anzac Rd for major sewer project
19 July 2005
Work has started on temporary traffic changes on Anzac Road near Glen Road to allow for open excavations as part of the Browns Bay trunk sewer upgrade project.
Anzac Rd will be reduced to a single lane just west of the Glen Rd intersection, and west-bound traffic will redirected along Glen Rd and Inverness Rd, while the work is carried out.
North Shore City Council wastewater network projects manager Dave Woods says the excavation is needed in the roadway to divert an existing sewer while the new Browns Bay trunk sewer is installed.
The work will take approximately four weeks to complete. Mr Woods says all changes will be clearly signposted and road and footpath access to all businesses and residential properties will be maintained throughout the work.
The work is a key part of Project CARE which aims to reduce wet weather sewage overflows onto North Shore beaches.
The $12 million project will see two large sewers installed, one beneath Anzac Rd and one beneath the beach front reserve. These new sewers will cater for increased volumes during wet weather and future growth. Once the work is completed, Anzac Road will be returned to its previous condition.
