New general manager completes ARC management team

The Auckland Regional Council has appointed Greg Hill as General Manager Policy and Planning. The appointment completes a change to the council's executive management team that has been rolled out over recent months.
Mr Hill has a strong background in planning and policy work, with some 20 years experience in local government and resource management. He has spent the last five years running his own resource management consulting business specialising in public policy development for central, regional and local government agencies, and has considerable experience as a hearings commissioner.
Mr Hill has been involved in the development of some of the region's key policy and planning documents including the Regional Plan: Coastal, the Air Land and Water Plan, and the Auckland Region Civil Defence Emergency Management Plan, which was approved by the Minister of Civil Defence earlier this year.
ARC Chief Executive Peter Winder says that Mr Hill's skills are a welcome addition to the ARC's management team.
"I am confident that Greg's current standing, and his considerable experience dealing with Auckland issues will enable him to make a rapid contribution to the work the ARC is doing across the region. I am thrilled to welcome him to the ARC's management team.
"This is an exciting time for the ARC as we make the necessary changes to enhance the overall performance and cost effectiveness of the organisation in order to better achieve the outcomes Aucklanders want, and in order to be able to better respond to the changing legislative and political environment."
Greg Hill joins four other General Managers who have been appointed in recent months, and existing ARC directors:

Mr Hill takes up his appointment in February 2006.
