Nathan Homestead opens its doors
Manurewa Community Arts Centre (Nathan Homestead) is hosting an open day on Saturday 4 March from 10am – 4pm. Sponsored by the Nathan Homestead Users Society, the open day is free and will showcase displays and demonstrations from the many different clubs based at the historical building.
Visitors can get a glimpse of what life was like in the early years of Manurewa from the Manurewa Historical Society’s collection of historical publications and photographs or admire exquisite roses, cut flowers and herb baskets in a mini flower show, courtesy of the Manurewa Horticultural Society.
The South Auckland Rock and Mineral club will demonstrate their stone carving and faceting skills and art tutors from a range of disciplines including lead lighting and botanical drawing will also be showing their work. Children are encouraged to take part in exciting art and craft making activities.
Barry Mold, the President of the Nathan Homestead Users Society says ‘we welcome the general public to visit and hopefully gain an insight into the different clubs that use Nathan Homestead’.
For further information and / or arranging the use of historical photographs please call the Nathan Homestead’s Centre Manager, Pat Kadarmia on 2670180.
