Kiwitri celebrates a big birthday bash at Kilbirnie Park
The Pumpkin Patch Kiwitri is celebrating a huge 12th birthday bash at Kilbirnie Park this Sunday 12 March.
Over 1200 budding triathletes are already registered for the children’s triathlon that encourages participation and fun, and the organisers expect there will be up to a maximum of 300 late entries – there’s no room for more. It involves a run, cycle and swim at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre, and can be done either individually or in teams of three.
The triathlon for five to 12 year olds starts at 9am at Kilbirnie Park, with ex-All Black and Dancing with the Stars winner Norm Hewitt there to greet the participants and start the first event, which kicks off the day at 10am. It’s a child/adult relay race for which 300 kids and their parents are already registered.
Norm is thrilled to be taking part in the big day. “It will be great to see so many kids of all abilities having fun and keeping fit at the same time. I know from personal experience that exercise keeps you fit and healthy – and happy, too.”
Each participant will receive an official Pumpkin Patch Kiwitri certificate. Those participating in timed events will receive an additional 1st, 2nd and 3rd place certificate. All prizes will be awarded as spot prizes.
The postponement date for the Kiwitri is Sunday 19 March. Tune in to Newstalk ZB from 7.30am on 12 March when postponement details will be announced.
