North Shore City Council is considering putting a pedestrian bridge over Wairau Stream in response to ongoing requests from the public.
It would give people easy access from Beach Rd to Milford Reserve, and has long been the subject of annual plan submissions.
Almost $1.1m has been allocated in the proposed 2006 - 2016 Draft City Plan, people are being asked whether they object to a plan change which would allow a bridge to be built.
A consultation brochure will be delivered to letterboxes in the Milford area by May 22. As well as the opportunity to comment on the proposed plan change, concept designs are included.
The issue was discussed at the North Shore City Council community services and parks committee today after extensive work by the city's Takapuna Community Board.
Committee chairwoman, Margaret Miles, says the concepts are the result of initial consultation with key stakeholders and the board. Feedback on them will be taken into account when working through a final design.
"People can also visit www.northshorecity.govt.nz, or go to Milford Shopping Centre or Westfield Shopping Centre, Takapuna, to get more detailed information about the concept designs," she says.
This time submissions can also be made using a new consultation tool. The Touch Poll survey system at Milford Shopping Centre lets people enter their submission directly onto a screen by touch.
Consultation on the plan change and concept designs begins on Monday, May 22, and ends at 5pm on Monday, July 24.
