Bum note at Rockquest
A great night with a crowd of over
700 at the Pettigrew Green Arena was
soured later when
the Smokefreerockquest directors' motel was burgled and
a
computer, black bag and cell phone were stolen.
"The Smokefreerockquest event generates a huge amount of
goodwill in towns
right around New Zealand and in 18
years we have never had an incident like
this, said
Nelson based director Pete Rainey.
The theft of the $2,500 Apple i-book was a major inconvenience as we had to leave Napier at dawn to arrive to Waikato where we had 29 bands competing in regional heats.
If anyone can
help with information about the missing computer, bag and
cell
phone please contact the Napier Police.
Meantime Havelock North was the big winner in the Hawkes
Bay finals. First
place went to Eyes on Everything from
Havelock North High School, with No
Exit from Taradale
High School placed second.
These two bands go on to
compete for one of six finalist spots in this
Year's
Smokefreerockquest, and take home regional prizes of
vouchers to be
cashed in for musical gear from NZ
Rockshops and their suppliers.
The Nelson heats have
attracted 30 bands and are at the Nelson School of
Music
on Sunday May 28th starting at 12
noon.
