Auckland City congratulates industry training successes
More than 300 industry training graduates will attend Auckland’s first Industry Training Graduation Ceremony at the Auckland Town Hall on 14 June.
Mayor of Auckland city, Dick Hubbard will attend the ceremony, which will celebrate the graduates’ success and acknowledge the employers’ contribution to the economic development of the city.
Mr Hubbard says, “Employers who participate in the industry training schemes offer training and employment to hundreds of school leavers every year. We want to recognise the important role they play in developing Auckland city’s skills base and expanding youth employment opportunities.
“The employers come from a wide range of industries, not just the traditional trades. By offering such a diverse range of training they provide school leavers with great career opportunities and help to create a workforce with the skills to meet the future demands of our city.”
The civic ceremony is part of the Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs initiatives. The taskforce includes a number of projects aiming to improve employment outcomes for Auckland’s young people and foster economic growth within the city.
The ceremony will be attend by trainees who have received National Certificates in industries as varied as: marine systems engineering, call centre management, carpentry, retail and automotive heavy engineering.
Graduates will be presented with a certificate of achievement from the Mayor at the ceremony, which takes place from 6-8pm on 14 June.
