Auckland Woman Wins $6.2 Million on Big Wednesday

Auckland Woman Wins $6.2 Million on Big Wednesday

An Auckland woman was so stunned by her Big Wednesday First Division win that she had to check her numbers over and over again, Chief Executive Todd McLeay said today.

In fact, she was so disbelieving that she had won she checked her numbers on-line, in the paper and then went to a retailer to get a print-out of the numbers to really make sure they matched hers.

Even once she had the numbers she checked her ticket against the winning numbers numerous times.

"I got that ticket out so many times just to make sure those winning numbers really were mine. I still can't believe they are," said the near speechless winner, who wishes to remain anonymous.

The winner had heard there had been a winning ticket sold at Pakuranga Lotto, but was not planning on checking her ticket until she had heard the prize had been won, but curiosity got the better of her, and so she decided to check her tickets anyway.

On checking her ticket, the lucky winner, who bought her ticket at Pakuranga Lotto, found out she had won Big Wednesday First Division, worth $4,395,409 plus $1,578,940 in luxury prizes which included:

- Porsche 911 Carrera;
- Range Rover Vogue V8;
- $50,000 worth of luxury travel every year for five years;
- $250,000 American Express Platinum card;
- Mustang luxury launch; and a
- $500,000 holiday home.

Because the player had bought a Big Wednesday dip ticket covering both heads and tails, they also won Big Wednesday Second Division, worth another $313,309 giving them a total winning of $6,287,658.

"When purchasing a Big Wednesday ticket, a player can add both heads and tails to their numbers, which would result in them winning both First and Second Divisions if they have the correct six numbers," says Mr McLeay

"This is Big Wednesday's second big winner in just over a month and it's our fourth big winner this year, proving to our players that our Big Wednesday prizes can be won at any time," said Mr McLeay.

This is also the second Big Wednesday First Division prize to go to a ticket bought in Auckland.

A second Big Wednesday Second Division prize sold by House of Gifts and Lotto in Gisborne has also been claimed.
