Panmure town centre's new look reaches next stage

Panmure town centre's new look reaches next stage

Work on the next stage of the Panmure town centre upgrade will start on 24 August in the community centre car park next to the Panmure library.

The car park will be closed during this first phase of the upgrade, but parking will still be available to the rear of the library and vehicles will still be able to exit to Pilkington Road past the community centre. Work is expected to be completed by the end of November, in time for the Christmas shopping period.

Residents should use the Pleasant View Road car park in the meantime.

The regular Panmure market on Sunday mornings will continue to operate with a temporary relocation of the outdoor stalls to the rear car park.

Plans of the upgrade are available to view in the Panmure community library.

The next stage of the upgrade includes continuing the existing theme in Queens Road between Basin View Land and the Queens Road roundabout. Final details for this phase of the upgrade are still being worked through with the community and will be available to view in the Panmure community library early in 2007.

Once complete, the upgrade will help support business and community activities.

The two phases of stage two of the upgrade will see $1.9 million invested in the town centre. This will take the total investment in Panmure's streetscape to $3.8 million over the past four years.

The upgrade is another step towards achieving the community's vision for the town centre as outlined in Panmure's future, a plan for revitalising the town centre and providing quality housing of good urban design, while managing growth and its challenges.
