NZCID Report a Flawed and Biased Document
NZCID Report a Flawed and Biased Document
ELAINE WEST RAM (Residents Action Movement)
"The NZ Council for Infrastructure Development report is a biased and flawed document and should be seen in its proper light," says Elaine West of RAM Residents Action Movement.
Ms West's statement referred to the NZCID¹s recently released report Infrastructure Development in Comparative Countries Insights for NZ.
"A more fitting title for the report would be: "How to Fool the People While Big Business Takes Over New Zealand¹s Infrastructure and Economy."
"In a recent interview on radio, the two writers of the report -who also happen to be executive members of the NZCID - suggested that the New Zealand Government was slow in getting behind the NZCID and in streamlining legislation, and officials should raise transport funds using debt funding while making better use of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
"Spending billions of dollars building toll roads was their solution to transport infrastructure."
"But" Ms West warns "it is what the writers and members of the NZCID do not include in their report that contradicts their position and should be noted by Government and the New Zealand public."
The following headings outline the contents in the Appendix below. Vital public infrastructure should be owned and operated by the public body.
