Have your say: Waitakere Ranges Park Mangmnt Plan
Have your say: Waitakere Ranges Park Management Plan to be
reviewed
14 November 2006
It’s time to review the way we manage parkland in the Waitakere Ranges and we need your input – that’s the message from the Auckland Regional Council as it embarks on a partial review of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park Management Plan.
The Waitakere Ranges Regional Parkland has long been recognised by the people of the Auckland region as a special place to be treasured by residents and visitors alike.
This partial review, which relates specifically to managing visitors to the parkland, comes at a time when the area is facing continued pressure from the country’s largest and fastest growing urban area. Continuing regional growth will bring an increase in the number of visitors, and a heightened demand for tourism and commercial activity in the Waitakere Ranges area.
The ARC is calling for comments and ideas on what should be considered when preparing the draft variation to the Plan. Once this step has been completed, in early 2007, public submissions will again be sought.
Further information about the review process and issues relating to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Parkland can be found in a discussion paper. For a copy of the discussion paper and a submission form phone 09 366 2000 during office hours or visit www.arc.govt.nz.
Written submissions must be received by 5pm, Friday 15 December 2006.
