Spencer Davis in Concert - Kaitoke Country Gardens - Upper Hutt - Saturday December 03, 2006
Spencer Davis, the rock star from Wales, who created the famed Spencer Davis Group in 1963 will perform his only NZ concert in Upper Hutt on Sunday 03 December. He is currently on an Australian tour and his show indoors at Kaitoke Country Gardens will feature both the older classic material and some new songs. He had close to a dozen top ten hit songs including “Gimme Some Lovin”, “Somebody Help Me”, “I’m a Man” and “Keep on Running” which all took British Rock to the rest of the world. His popularity has lived on and he continues to be very busy with recording and live concerts worldwide.
He is a well-educated man with degrees in modern languages and has played and toured with the greats like Steve Winwood, The Rolling Stones, The Who and in more recent times with Bruce Springsteen.
He has a strong affinity with New Zealand and Upper Hutt City Promotion Manager Paul Lambert says this is a real coup for Upper Hutt with its musical heritage.
The concert has been supported by Rimutaka Trust who now have a long association with community arts – activity with the Soundstage at Harcourt Park and previous City of Song Concerts.
Tickets are now on sales at Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre 04-527 2168 at $35.00 or www.expressions.org.nz.
