Forum highlights alcohol responsibilities over the festive season
Safer Auckland City in association with Auckland City, the Auckland Police and ALAC (Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand) will host the final alcohol accord forum for 2006 next Tuesday, 12 December at the Pioneer Woman’s Hall on the corner of High Street and Freyberg Place.
The theme for this forum is “how to survive a licensing inspection” and aims to eliminate ambiguity around liquor licensing expectations.
“Licensees should feel confident and prepared for an inspection when they know they are complying with liquor licensing regulations and this in turn provides a safer drinking environment for members of the public,” says Councillor Graeme Mulholland, chair of the Public Safety and Community Order Committee.
“The alcohol accord forum is a great opportunity for the police and Auckland City to work together with licensees on solutions that improve the safety and compliance around the sale and consumption of alcohol.
“With the festive season upon us this is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of host responsibility around alcohol consumption,” says Councillor Mulholland.
The Safer Auckland City alcohol accords were established to enable bar and restaurant managers, liquor license holders and liquor store owners to share information on the sale and consumption of alcohol.
Alcohol accords have been established in the Viaduct, Aotea, Parnell, Newmarket, Ponsonby and Karangahape Road areas. Anyone interested in joining the accords can contact Auckland City on (09) 379 2020.
The accord meeting will take place from 2.30pm to 5pm on Tuesday, 12 December at the Pioneer Woman’s Hall on the corner of High Street and Freyberg Place.
Liquor license holders and duty managers in Auckland city are invited to attend.
