Funky new mural to adorn Tupu Library
Staff from Manukau City Council’s Tupu Dawson Road Youth Library and the team from Disrupt Gallery in Auckland are working together to create a funky contemporary mural to adorn the back wall of the library.
Thanks to generous funding provided by the East Tamaki Community Charitable Trust, the local community can watch international graffiti artist Askew and his crew paint their latest work of art live, at a community celebration on Saturday, December 16.
Locals can also enjoy food, fun activities and entertainment provided by 274 Youth Core at the Ferguson Oaks Reserve adjacent to the library.
Community Librarian at Tupu Library Pip Henderson is excited about the new mural:
“We are all looking forward to watching our new mural go up. Not only will it add a touch of vibrancy to the back of the library and the reserve, but we hope it will also be something our young community will be proud to call their own.
“I invite local residents to come along and join the celebration”.
The completed mural will be coated with a special sealant to protect it from tagging.
