Solid gold sounds in Jellicoe Park

New Zealand music industry legends, Hello Sailor will take to the stage in Jellicoe Park on Saturday, 13 January, at Auckland City's Music in Parks Solid Gold Saturday.

Fresh back from touring with The Dudes, the hit seventies group and NZ music industry heavyweights will headline the free concert which takes place from 6pm to 9pm in Jellicoe Park, Onehunga.

Hello Sailor surfaced among the inner city student population in the 70s, and their debut self-titled album released in 1977 reach Gold Record status with hits like Blue Lady, Gutter Black and Lyin' in the Sand. The three founding members and songwriters, Graham Brazier, Dave McArtney and Harry Lyon, still perform and record together some thirty years after the inception of the much-loved Kiwi band.

The concert also features the lively Auckland-based jump swing band - The Alibis. The classy six-piece, horn driven band play a mix of jump, blues and swing music that appeals to music lovers and dancers alike.

This concert is one of two Solid Gold Saturday concerts taking place over summer. A swinging sixties Solid Gold Saturday takes place at Dingle Dell Reserve in St Heliers on Saturday, 3 February.

With 35 free concerts in the Music in the Parks series there is plenty of music to keep you out and about all summer.
