Great day out at Waiheke’s Little Day In

Celebrate Auckland Anniversary Weekend in style and check out some of New Zealand’s hottest musical talent at Waiheke’s Little Day In concert.

The free Auckland City Music in Parks concert at Onetangi Sports Park runs from 4pm to 9pm on Saturday, 27 January, and boasts entertainment from Kora, My Life Story and Bored Gordon.

The bands join a number of great local musicians to create an event packed with music and family fun.

Five-piece roots-rock band Kora were a big hit at last year’s Music in the Parks Myers Park concert. The band mixes funky dub and reggae beats with rich vocal harmonies and a uniquely Pacific flavour which has been described as a fusion of TrinityRoots and Che Fu.

My Life Story formed their pop-rock band in 2001 while they were still at school. Since then they have enjoyed a continuous rise of popularity, touring New Zealand and Australia and winning a host of awards. With gripping guitar lines and catchy melodies the band have an attention grabbing sound.

After a year of performing together, Bored Gordon has gained popularity around the Auckland pub scene, playing with such bands as Voom, The Sneaks and Lunavela. The group will keep the Little Day In crowd entertained with their memorable melodies and loud fuzzy guitars.

The event is topped of with a local Waiheke line-up including Charlie B & Billy Fluid, Mammacan, Muthrtung, Ben Kara and Sam Owen.

With 35 free concerts in the Music in the Parks series there is plenty of music to keep you out and about all summer. So grab some friends, pack up a picnic and enjoy some cool summer sounds in one of the city’s beautiful parks. Check out www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/mips for a full list of event.

This concert is produced by Auckland City and supported by New Zealand Community Trust, Lion Foundation, Fonterra Brands (Tip Top) Limited, Ecover – Helping clean up and The Edge 94.2fm.
