NEW EXHIBITIONS
The Living Art of Pacific Tattoo – curated by Steven Ball
Back by popular demand, The Living Art of Pacific Tattoo returns to Manukau City.
The Living Art of Pacific Tattoo focuses on the art of documenting ta moko, tatau, tatu and tattoo within communities living in New Zealand and the Pacific. The exhibition of photography premiered at the 2005 Tattoonesia festival in Moorea, Tahiti. In 2006, the show travelled to Paris, Milan and London, Auckland City and Mangere.
The exhibition features artists from New Zealand and Hawai’i including: Mark Adams, Tricia Allen, Greg Semu, Serena Stevenson, Riki Manuel, Areta Wilkinson, Jason Hall, Marsha Angou, James Pinker, Makarita Urale, Steven Ball, Makiko Kuwahara, Miki Magasiva, Lisa Taouma and Mark McLean.

will be working live in the Gallery for the duration of the
exhibition:

A travelling exhibition presented by Toi o Manukau. Works by emerging and established Manukau artists explore the theme of connections, inspired by the people, music, art and culture of Manukau,
Manukau stories and connections unfold in this series of works. After being exhibited in Mangere, the works will travel to California, USA.

Nathan Homestead Tutors & Students
Nathan Homestead provides a number of art classes for many students and this is their chance to shine. View the impressive display of new art works created with flair and skill by adult students - works include paintings, flax weaving, lead-lighting and patchwork quilting.
Younger students will feature their best examples of pottery, painting and mixed media. This is also a great opportunity to view a selection of art work created by Nathan Homestead's dedicated arts tutors.

Come along and experience Nathan Homestead’s Open Day and discover something new about Manurewa’s Arts Centre.
We will have tutors’ demonstrations of our fascinating classes, a bouncy castle, free children’s art activities and tours where you will have an opportunity to find out about the interesting past of the historic Nathan Homestead.

Waitangi Day Family Celebrations - 10-Year Anniversary!
Presented by Toi o Manukau, the 2007 Waitangi Day Family Celebrations will be bigger and better than ever as we celebrate the event's 10-year anniversary!
Since the first celebration held in 1997, the event has grown to be a major day for Manukau - and is now the second largest Waitangi Day commemorative event in New Zealand, attended by Prime Minister Helen Clark each year.
Expected to draw a crowd of 30,000 people, Waitangi Day Family Celebrations 2007 will be a great day to celebrate the diversity of our city.
Highlights include:
• FREE Concert - the
main stage will be showcasing national headlining acts and
top talent from throughout Manukau and Auckland

FREE Children's rides and activities
• Toi o Manukau
Arts Display - highlighting the work of local artists

Shopping Village - a variety of stalls selling great kai,

Summer on the Lawn – Free
concert series
Nathan Homestead’s nine acres of exquisite lawns and gardens provide a perfect backdrop to our ‘Summer on the Law’ free concert series. Organised by Manukau Arts, the Homestead will host great music and entertainment every Sunday afternoon during February.
Swing on the Lawn with Prima Swing Riot
Prima Swing Riot is a seven-piece band that knows how to get down and swing, shuffle and jive. Led by Pete McGregor, they’ll play any tune that’s fun, fast and great to dance to, from the 1950s to today. They specialise in covering the new neo swing bands such as Cherry Poppin Daddies, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Royal Crown Revue, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies and more.

Soul on the Lawn with Betty-Anne & Friends
Old skool funksters Betty-Anne & Friends are set to deliver an afternoon of summer bliss, with classic songs from the 70s through to the present day. Known for her soulful voice, Betty-Anne’s sophisticated sound stands her in a class of her own.
