Spongebob Square Pants To Visit Mt Maunganui Beach!
SpongeBob SquarePants the world’s most famous sea sponge is to take a break from his hectic television production schedule to visit Mt Maunganui when Nickelodeon NZ takes over the beach for a massive two day free event at the 2007 Billabong Grom Surf Series, and the Billabong Girls Get Out There Surf Day on February 3rd and 4th.
“We are extremely excited that SpongeBob will be hitting the beach with us at Mt Maunganui, says Lauren Nola from Nickelodeon NZ. “Rumour has it that he’ll be bringing some other big stars with him such as Dora The Explorer and his best mate Patrick the starfish.
“SpongeBob says he’s really looking forward to meeting everyone at Mt Maunganui and checking out the beach which he hears is even more beautiful than his home at Bikini Bottom”
SpongeBob, Patrick and Dora will be special guests at the two-day free event for kids aged four to fourteen, featuring “Nick-tivities” such as games, entertainment and competitions. Kids will be able to meet and get their photo taken with the Nickelodeon stars as well as make their own art, take part in hula hooping, tug-o-war, wishing wheels, sand castle building plus many more fun Nick-tivities’!
There will also be a chance to win a Billabong surf kit including a surfboard, wet suit and lesson with a Billabong Surf Pro.
“We are going to be looking for kids who can get up on stage and scribe a Nick rap or rhyme to perform, says Lauren Nola, “The winning performance each day will win the Billabong Surf Kit and as we’ll have the Nickelodeon cameras rolling a lot of kids will be able to get their faces on Nickelodeon NZ.”
“Its definitely going to be two fun days of sunshine, sand, surf and Nickelodeon slime.”

Nick Takes Over Your Beach is part of the 2007 Billabong Grom Series presented by Oceanbridge. The increasingly popular three event series catering for surfers under the age of 16 unearths new talent year upon year and provides a launching pad for New Zealand’s elite junior surfers.
