Kiwi chicks in exclusive zoo performance

Kiwi chicks in exclusive zoo performance

Get ready for a unique experience when three Kiwi chicks, headlined by Anika Moa, take to the stage for the final Wild Bean Cafe ZooMusic concert on Saturday, 24 February, 6pm to 9pm.

Anika Moa first shot to fame in 2000 when she became the first New Zealander to get signed to a major US label (Atlantic Records) without having released an album, and has gone from strength to strength ever since.  Her album, Thinking Room (2001), debuted at number one in New Zealand and went on to achieve double-platinum status. Two other Kiwi chicks, up and coming artist Miriam Clancy and the ever-popular Jan Hellriegel, will support Anika Moa.

All concerts in the Wild Bean Cafe ZooMusic series (21 Jan – 24 Feb) support vital conservation projects, designed to boost awareness of endangered animals, and provide financial support. Appropriately, Moa’s concert will support a native bird, the kiwi, through the Bank of New Zealand Save the Kiwi’s Operation Nest Egg (O.N.E) programme. This project works to help ensure the long-term survival of our national icon, something Anika is passionate about. “I’m really looking forward to raising money for the beautiful kiwi chicks.  I had the pleasure of meeting a few of them recently, and it’s great to see the efforts of O.N.E in action and the positive difference they are making to help the kiwi,” says Moa.

The opening act for the night (6.00pm to 6.30pm) is one of New Zealand’s outstanding singer/songwriters Jan Hellriegel. Following on from Hellriegel, ZooMusic fans can enjoy the fresh and unique sounds of Miriam Clancy before Anika Moa  takes the stage. Clancy will perform songs from her debut album, Lucky One, which recently featured as one of the top albums of 2006 in the New Zealand Herald.
