Sounds of Silence at
Helensville Hall
Footsteps in the foyer are a distant echo now that the Helensville War Memorial Hall sound-proofing renovations have been completed.
The upgrade has seen sound-proofing strips installed on doors; thick, new carpet laid in the meeting room, and carpet tiles laid in the foyer.
Western ward councillor, Greville Walker, says the upgrade was a cost effective solution to reducing noise and providing a more usable and pleasant facility.
“We are anticipating the community will make even more use of the hall now noise levels have been significantly reduced,” says Mr Walker.
The hall complex was built in 1995 and has had no renovations until now. The main hall seats around 250 people with the meeting room accommodating 30. A fully equipped kitchen, trestle tables and chairs are also available.
The hall can be used by community groups, for public meetings, dance classes, weddings and fairs, and bookings can be made by contacting the council’s Helensville service centre on 0800 426 5169.
