Detours In Place For Weekend Flat Bush Roadworks

Manukau City Council is advising drivers that Chapel Rd, from the intersection at Stancombe Road to the intersection at Michael Jones Drive, will be closed this weekend for roadworks.

The closure will be from 7pm Friday 9 March to 6am Monday 12 March, with a contingency date of Friday 16 March to Monday 19 March. It is to allow a major intersection upgrade at Ormiston Road to be completed.

Alternatives routes will be signposted. To return to Chapel Road the recommended route is via Accent Drive, Te Irirangi Drive, Ormiston Road and Michael Jones Drive. Another alternative route around the roadworks is via Stancombe Road and Murphys Road.

Owners of shops on Chapel Road have been notified and access to the shopping centre will be maintained at all times.

Ormiston Road from Chapel Road to Michael Jones Drive will also be closed from 7:00pm Friday 9 March 2007 to 31 July 2007 for road reconstruction. No access to properties is affected by this closure.

The roadworks are a crucial part of the extensive roading, pedestrian and cycling improvements that are underway in Flat Bush.

Flat Bush is New Zealand’s largest planned development. Covering 1700 hectares, with 15,000 homes, Flat Bush will be home to more than 40,000 people by 2020.
