Vector Arena Announces Public Open Day
SUNDAY
MARCH 18 2007
For the first time, on Sunday March 18th, Vector Arena, the entertainment hub of the Pacific, will open its doors to the general public.
This invitation is a unique and free opportunity for the public to visit Vector Arena and experience the extraordinary features of New Zealand’s largest, multi-purpose, indoor, all weather arena which will be home to the cream of world sports and entertainment.
An exclusive Vector Arena passport will be distributed to all guests and will be stamped at key locations. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore and have access to areas that will normally be off limits to the general public.
The public will be able to tour the Arena’s back of house areas and visit a VIP dressing room as well as the Green Room, to see where the top performers relax and unwind.
All areas will feature items or displays that will replicate exactly what it’s like when an event is on, from dressing rooms to the load-in areas for production equipment, VIP hospitality rooms, the panoramic and stylish Bistro Arena and the many food & beverage outlets.
There will even be an opportunity for people to go into the arena bowl and perform on the stage - a unique chance to experience 15 seconds of fame!
Throughout the day, visitors will learn of the many design elements and unique, sophisticated construction features that make Vector Arena such a special entertainment venue. The public will also be able to learn about the significance of the Arena’s artwork and the connection with the Ngati Whatua iwi and the land on which Vector Arena is situated.
The public open day is a chance for people to personally experience the magnificent Vector Arena - what it will mean to them and how it will benefit Auckland and New Zealand.
There is no public parking located on site at Vector Arena however, more than 7,000 short term car parks are within a 1.5km radius from Vector Arena.
Vector Arena is close enough to Auckland’s City centre to allow visitors to walk or catch the Link Bus or free City Circuit bus. Britomart Railway station is an easy 5 minute walk, the downtown ferry terminal is a 10 minute walk and most buses into the CBD come within a 10 minute walk to the Arena. The Link Bus stops virtually at the door of Vector Arena.
As a large number of visitors are expected to attend the public open day, Mahuhu Crescent and Te Taou Crescent will be closed from 11am until 4.30pm. Traffic Control will be on site to assist. This closure applies to all except residents and authorised and emergency vehicles.
