Public Transport
Services This Easter Weekend
ARTA is advising commuters to carefully check details of timetables for buses, ferries and trains well in advance before making travel plans for Easter weekend.
On Good Friday (6 April) no train services will operate across the Auckland network. Train services currently do not operate in Auckland on two days of the year, Good Friday and Christmas Day. Public holiday timetables will also be in place for all train lines this Easter Weekend.
“Rugby fans heading out to watch the Blues versus the Cheetahs match at Eden Park on Good Friday are advised to seek alternative methods of transport to train services. A Sunday timetable will be in operation across the bus network on that day. Limited bus shuttle services will operate between stop D6 at Britomart and Eden Park in addition to Sunday service for Dominion Road and Sandringham Road services. Supporters should check the timetables and make sure they allow plenty of time to get to the game”, says Mark Lambert, General Manager Customer Services.
On the Western Rail Line, normal timetables will
be in place on Sunday. On Saturday and Easter Monday a
Saturday train timetable will apply (with no services after
9pm on Monday) including bus replacement services between
New Lynn and Waitakere to allow the continuation of double
tracking works. Commuters should look out for a bus marked
‘RAIL BUS’ at transfer locations. Where buses replace
trains, the normal train fare will apply for the entire
journey.
Elsewhere on the Auckland network, normal weekend services
will operate on the Southern and Eastern Lines on both the
Saturday and Sunday. On Easter Monday a Sunday timetable
will be in place for both lines.
On the buses a Sunday
timetable will operate on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and
Easter Monday. The normal Saturday timetable will operate on
Saturday. Nightrider buses will not operate on Good Friday
evening but will be back in service on Saturday.
Mr
Lambert advised ferry users to check details of individual
sailings, especially Waiheke services, as there will be
changes by calling MAXX on (09) 366 6400 or by visiting the
MAXX website on www.MAXX.co.nz.
