Life Flight Annual Open Day
Life Flight Annual Open Day
Life Flight’s annual open day, part of Westpac’s 2007 Chopper Appeal, will be held Sunday the 22nd of April from 10am-4pm at Life Flight’s Air Rescue Centre on George Bolt Street (the Lyall Bay side of Wellington Airport).
Marketing & Fundraising Manager, Anna Gilhooly says “If you know any children (or adults) that are mad about helicopters, planes, fire engines and ambulances then the Life Flight Open Day is their chance to see them all up close. They could even win one of 16 places on 4 rides in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter just by attending.”
Visitors can get up close to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Life Flight NZ air ambulance, as long as they are not called out on an emergency mission.
They will also be able to meet the crew, pilots, nurses and paramedics, and see the equipment used by the specialist medical teams from Wellington Hospital's Neonatal and Transit Care units. There will be rescue demonstrations by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and fire fighting demonstrations by Wellington Airport Fire Engines, and a Wellington Free Ambulance will be onsite too.
Anna continues “this is a great event for the last day of the school holidays. As well as all the things to see, there is plenty to keep the kids entertained with a bouncy dragon, face-painters, story-teller and Puzzle & Random clowns, with plenty of food and coffee by Café L’affare. We’ve got some great kids’ spot-prizes for the best-dressed pilot, nurse, crewperson or paramedic too”.
