Info key to helping Auckland onto public transport

ARTA Media Release

Wednesday 30 May 2007

Information key to helping more Aucklanders onto public transport

Finding out how to get around Auckland’s public transport system is now easier thanks to nine recently installed units which provide a one-stop-shop of free, up-to-date public transport information. The stand alone units have stocks of colour-coded timetables and guides for passengers travelling to all areas of Auckland and can be found at Britomart, Albany and Constellation Busway Stations, Birkenhead Ferry Terminal, AUT, the University of Auckland, Unitec, Massey University and MIT.

ARTA’s General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert, says, “The units have been installed so commuters have ready and easy access to information on how to get around the public transport network.

“Giving our customers good information so they are reassured about moving around the network, is half the battle in helping people make the leap from using their cars to making a choice to use public transport”.

Mr Lambert says, “The units have proven to be winners with commuters and tourists, some being restocked daily as the number of Aucklanders taking public transport continues to grow.

“The information units are just one more way ARTA is providing passengers with the most up-to-date information available”.
