City Care Ltd Commences Rodney District Council Parks Maintenance Contract
On 1 July, national contracting company City Care Ltd commenced operations maintaining Rodney District Council’s parks, reserves and coastal areas.
The parks maintenance contract involves the operational maintenance of all council owned parks and coastal areas, including liaising with related community groups such as sports clubs, park and recreational facilities users and visitors to the Rodney district.
City Care has maintained Christchurch City’s parks and reserves since 1999 and 70% of Tauranga City’s parks and sports fields since 2005. The company won the contract for its proven track record in parks maintenance and its ability to provide a value-added service.
“Rodney District Council is proud and excited to welcome City Care as service provider for our parks and coastal facilities management,” says Paul Utting, Rodney District Council’s Director, Assets and Facilities.
“City Care has a history of successful management and maintenance of Council parks and infrastructure. They also bring with them well-proven asset management processes that will improve Rodney District Council’s ability to accurately identify long-term maintenance and replacement programmes. This will provide us with increased certainty for future planning and budgeting to align our works programmes with user expectations.”
City Care’s General Manager – Northern Region, Tim Gibson says “Our partnership with Rodney District Council strengthens City Care’s position as a market leader within the national parks maintenance market. It also provides an exciting opportunity for us to establish our business within one of New Zealand’s fastest developing regions.”
City Care operates nationally with an Auckland regional depot in Penrose. As a result of this contract and the recently awarded Manukau Water Ltd reticulation maintenance contract, which commenced 2 July, the company has established two new depots in Silverdale and East Tamaki.
The Rodney District Council contract has been awarded to City Care for a four year term, with the potential to extend to ten years. There is a total of 50 staff employed across operations.
