Scheme Assessment Contract for Transmission Gully

Transit New Zealand
Wellington Regional Office

MEDIA RELEASE

18 July 2007

Scheme Assessment Contract Let for Transmission Gully

Transit New Zealand has awarded the last of five contracts for Stage 1 of the investigation and preliminary design phase for the Transmission Gully project.

Transit Wellington Regional Manager Graham Taylor said the scheme assessment contract has been awarded for $769,627 to a consortia led by Opus International Consultants. The other partners in the consortia are GHD, Holmes Consulting Group and Boffa Miskell.

The investigation and preliminary design phase of the Transmission Gully project is being undertaken by Transit on behalf of the Government.

Mr Taylor said the consortia won the contract against stiff competition from two other experienced consultants.

“The partners in the consortia provide the best mix of technical and management skills of all the tenders for this project. They also have wide and considerable experience in the preparation and successful delivery of scheme assessments,” he said.

The scheme assessment work for the project involves engineering investigations, development and assessment of project options and alternatives, and planning investigations.

The four previously awarded contracts for Stage 1 have been for preliminary geotechnical assessment, cost risk and value engineering assessment, traffic modelling, and road safety audit.
