Put The Ratepayers First
Wayne Brown is to stand for Mayor of the Far North District Council in the October Local Body elections - www.votebrowny.co.nz
“I have had a lot of experience at fixing organisations particularly those who are in financial trouble or have lost their way and I want the Far North, an area which I love and where I live, to now benefit from that experience and reach its full potential”, said Wayne Brown.
His experience includes leading and changing large local and national organisations. Organisations include Northland Health, Tairawhiti Health, Vector and LTSA. He is presently Chairman of the Auckland District Health Board, Chairman of Kordia and has been on the board of TVNZ, Transpower and Maori TV.
“The Far North district needs leadership to build on the opportunities delivered to us by our wonderful climate and environment, we need more action and less bureaucracy and that is what I am setting out to do”, he continued.
“I am making a commitment to put the ratepayers first and make the Far North as good as it can be.”
He has been involved with the Far North for almost 30 years and worked on many projects to provide opportunities and facilities for the people of Northland including the Northland Horticulture Cadet Scheme and the Tai Tokerau free tertiary fee scheme plus a number of other local initiatives.
His engineering business has worked on key projects for the Far North including Stone Store restoration, Kohukohu Sewerage scheme, Kauri Cliffs, pack houses, cool stores, irrigation dams and maraes.
As an employer his business includes horticulture, planning, environmental auditing, building and property development in Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Omapere, Mangonui and Ahipara. Active in sport he has been a player, manager and coach for rugby and Surfing NZ President and Team manager.
He recently launched his book, the 5 Minute MBA.
