ASB Community Trust public meeting
NEWS RELEASE
ASB Community Trust public
meeting
ASB Community Trust holds its annual public meeting in Auckland on August 27 and the event will include a capacity building fair for non-profit groups.
As well as reporting back on the spending of its 2007 grants budget, the Trust has invited a dozen key groups to join it at the table and talk with community groups about the support they can offer the not-for-profit sector.
“As usual, we’ll present an overview of the Trust’s performance for the year – both in grants and investments – but we aim to add value to the meetings as we did last year,” says Trust CEO Jennifer Gill.
“We have invited key organisations to join us at a capacity building fair where community groups can gather information on what help is available to strengthen their organisation in areas such as accounting, management, strategic planning and employment issues.”
The event will be held on Monday, August 27, in
Auckland War Memorial Museum’s event centre. The fair runs
from 1pm-3pm, with the public meeting following from
3pm-5pm. More details are at

Key groups at
the funding fair include: Auckland Regional Physical
Activity and Sport Strategy (ARPASS); Auckland City Council
Community Resourcing Team; Community Waitakere; Donate New
Zealand; Funding Information Service; Lion Foundation;
Manukau East Council of Social Services; North Shore
Community & Social Services; NZ Federation of Voluntary
Welfare Organisations; Skycity Auckland Community Trust;
Unitec (NZGraduate Diploma in Not For Profit Management);
Volunteering Auckland.
At the public meeting Trust
representatives will be joined on the stage by keynote
speakers Tim Corbett and Kelvyn Eglinton. Mr Eglinton is
Strategy Director, Auckland Regional Physical Activity and
Sport Strategy, while Mr Corbett has been developing the
social marketing strategy for projects including Lets Beat
Diabetes and supporting the One Heart Many Lives programme
for PHARMAC.
The Trust will report back on its 2007
results and explain its strategic goals for grant-making in
the future.
“We want to address the needs of the community as a whole,” says Ms Gill “and in particular those who have least access to resources, seeking a balance between social and economic needs and broader recreational, cultural and environmental requirements.”
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to info@ASBCommunityTrust.org.nz.
