Community Personalities Put Their Hands Up For Nelson
The Hands Up Campaign for the Nelson Region local body elections was launched today to a packed Saxton Field sports centre crowd comprising community, business groups and individuals.
The Campaign launch follows confirmation over the weekend that former Mayor of Tasman District and President of Local Government New Zealand Kerry Marshall will lead the team.
Speaking at the launch Hands Up Founder, Paul Bell said, “Hands Up is not a pro amalgamation or a business lobby group. We are a collection of residents who believe best outcomes will come when the people of both Nelson and Tasman harmonise, their talents and differences then move together towards common goals.”
“The Hands Up campaign represents a community effort with people from all walks of life, who were inspired by the message, have provided time and resources to ensure the Hands Up candidates are known and understood,” said Mr Bell.
The Hands Up Candidates to date with more to be announced, are for Nelson; Kerry Marshall for Mayor and standing for Nelson City Council; Pete Rainey, Aldo Micco, Alison McAlpine. Graeme Thomas, Rachel Reese and Ali Boswijk. Standing for Hands Up in Richmond Ward Tasman Glenda Buschl.
