Mission in the City
A development
manager has been appointed for the Auckland City Mission’s
innovative $70 million inner-city housing and community
project, bringing the vision a step closer to completion.
Six months ago concept plans and a model of the Stevens
Lawson winning design for the Mission in the City ideas
competition were unveiled. Now, with the appointment of Syd
Jones of Coffey Projects, a land use consent application to
build the proposed multi-storey, multi-purpose venture
is
being prepared. Jones is working in conjunction with the
Mission in the City project management group, the Auckland
City Council and Housing New Zealand
“Our vision is starting to become a reality,” says City Missioner Diane Robertson.
Mission in the City will combine commercial activities with housing and social services. The intention is to bring people together and create a more inclusive, community-focused city.
Diane Robertson and the designers of the complex will showcase the vision and the concept plans at 5.15pm on Tuesday, October 16 at the Britomart Pavillion as part of Architecture Week.
