In2it Events Hot Stuff - Skate Demo Action
In2it Events Hot Stuff
In2it's events kicked off this month with an action-packed skate demo, and two successful breakdancing clinics.
In2it is a product of North Shore City Council's Youth Destinations Project, which aims to get more 10-15 year olds physically active in their leisure time.
North Shore City's youth destinations project manager, Dan Kane, says it was great to see so much interest in the events.
"Around 200 skating enthusiasts attended the (first of three) Cheapskates skate demos, held in Takapuna's Kilarney St car park.
"It was great to have some pro skaters, including Chey Ataria, on board doing their thing," he says.
Mr Kane says there was similar enthusiasm for breakdancing with over 50 people attending the Northcote and Browns Bay clinics.
"Shua and Antz from DZIAH dance crew did an incredible job running the workshops and the krumping demos and dance battles were pretty impressive.
"Those who came along were lucky to have the chance to learn from the best New Zealand has to offer. Runners up at the Breakdancing World Champs in LA last year, DZIAH have some pretty awesome talents to share," he says.
"It's great to be able to provide positive events for the young people of North Shore City and it's even better that our initiatives have been so well received.
"If all our initiatives are welcomed with the same enthusiasm and excitement we shouldn't have too much trouble achieving the goals of the project."
Mr Kane says there are heaps of events coming up over the summer months.
"Look out for the 25m slip and slide at your local park throughout November and come down to Takapuna on December 9 for a game of beach cricket."
Breakdancing clinics will be held this Saturday (October 20) at Greville Rd Reserve, and at Marlborough Park on Saturday, October 27. Skate demos continue through November and December, the next is on Friday, November 2 kicking off at 5pm.
