Final Regional Council Election Results In

John Bain and Joe Carr will be the only two new faces on the Northland Regional Council with final election results confirming a line-up unchanged from election day.

In the Whangarei constituency, Cr Bain replaces Stan Semenoff, who left Council to successfully contest the Whangarei Mayoralty, while in the Far North, Cr Carr replaces Jim Peters, who retired after serving on Council since its creation in 1989.

All six Councillors from the previous Council who sought re-election were successful.

Councillors are:
Whangarei constituency (four seats);
• Bill Rossiter (13,968 votes)
• Peter Jensen (13,428 votes)
• Craig Brown (12,125 votes)
• John Bain (10,642 votes)

Far North constituency (three seats);
• Joe Carr (9381 votes)
• Ian Walker (9211 votes)
• Lorraine Hill (7032 votes)

Kaipara constituency (one seat);
• Mark Farnsworth (elected unopposed)

Regional Council Electoral Officer Linda Stansfield says Regional Councillors will be sworn in at the first meeting of the new Council in Whangarei on Wednesday, 31 October.
Ms Stansfield says among the new Council’s first tasks at the 31 October meeting will be to elect a Chairman and a Deputy.
