16 November 2007

Group Manager, Community & Corporate Information appointed

Bernie Goedhart, currently Information Manager at Palmerston North City Council is to become the first Group Manager, Community & Corporate Information at the Kapiti Coast District Council.

Bernie, who has lived on the Kapiti Coast for more than 10 years, will take up his new position on January 14.

“When we decided to split the role of Group Manager Community Assets & Services into two with a focus on the operational for one and on information and communication services for the other, we needed to look for people with the right experience,” Chief Executive Leigh Halstead said today.

“Bernie has been managing a large team at Palmerston North and his responsibilities covered Geographical Information Services (GIS), website content and development, records management as well as information systems development and support”.

“This involves skilled staff management, strategic planning and project management. His ability to enable and support teams focused on delivering benefits to users of information, both internal and external to Council, will add value to Council’s investments in Information Systems”.

“He has a splendid track record in managing information and systems, which is an area where the Kapiti Coast District Council needs leadership, drive and efficiency as well as a strong team leadership”.

“Bernie Goedhart has the skills and experience we are seeking and we look forward to his taking up the position early next year,” Mr Halstead said.
