Sun Shines for Auckland’s Ultimate Christmas Party

The Sun Shines Through At Twilight’s For Auckland’s Ultimate Christmas Party

The weather was warm but the action was hot, as Auckland Racing Club kicked off the Lindauer Twilight Summer Series at Ellerslie on Wednesday.

Thousands of racegoers enjoyed the social atmosphere and on track action of sunset racing. At the conclusion of the racing schedule, guests partied into the night with local band, CVE, and DJ Jandalman.

The festive spirit was everywhere, with Santa’s flirtatious little helpers offering gifts to those who were behaving; Santa was even seen enjoying some Christmas time dancing.Â

Ellerslie always attracts the glamorous and well dressed, and last night was no different. The 91ZM Stars & Studs fashion judges hunted out the best dressed guy and girl for the evening, and Lana Hamilton and Nick Ferneyhough each walked away with a $1000 Graeme Thomson Jewellery shopping spree.

On track the racing provided plenty of interest with ‘dark horse’ running in every race. Punters who bet on the jockey in the black silks added 10% to their dividend if the dark horse won. Competition on the track was fierce and Michael Walker, New Zealand’s top ranked jockey, set the pace for the evening with a win in the first race on Shooting Star. Unfortunately the best the ‘dark horse’ could do was an unlucky second in the last race.

The next event in the Lindauer Twilight Summer Series calendar will be the ‘Karaka Million’ on Sunday 27th January 2008 followed by Auckland’s ‘Ultimate Valentines Party’ on Wednesday 13th February 2008.
