Auckland Regional Council’s summer holiday programme continues this week with two Hunua-based adventure treats for energetic youngsters keen to get a taste of the outdoors life. Places are limited so booking is essential.

Tuesday 22 January from 10am-2pm
“Hunua Adventure”
A day of kayaking, abseiling and exploring the wild and exciting Hunua Ranges. True adventurers will love this. Full instruction given. Get ready to get wet so bring togs, towel and a change of warm clothes in addition to lunch, a drink bottle, a sun hat and sunblock.
Age: 7-13 years
Cost: $33

Thursday 24 January from 10am-2pm
‘Hunua Bushcraft’
An awesome trip designed to introduce young explorers to the outdoor life. Help cook on a camp stove, learn some survival tips, plant discovery, bush games, art and more. Get ready for a real adventure. Full instruction provided. Bring lunch, a drink bottle, a jacket, change of clothes, sun hat and sunblock.
Age: 5-7 years.
Cost $22

Location: Both days start and finish at Kokako Lodge beside the Hunua Falls in the Hunua Ranges Regional Park, south east Auckland.

Directions:
Travel south on State Highway 1 and take the Papakura exit. Follow Beach Rd across Great South Rd and along Settlement Rd. Turn right by Edmund Hillary School into Hunua Rd. Follow Hunua Rd through the Hunua Gorge. Just before entering Hunua village turn left into White Rd, right into Falls Rd and follow this road to the Hunua Falls and lodge.
