Take a bus or ferry to Aquatica 08
ARTA Media Release
22 January 2008
For fun on and
off the water take a bus or ferry to Aquatica 08
On Anniversary Weekend, Aucklanders planning to go to the Viaduct Harbour for Aquatica 08, Auckland’s Harbour Festival, can travel the easy way and catch a bus or ferry to the central city.
Passengers planning to use the train to and from Aquatica 08 are reminded that buses replace trains for all Western Line services and Southern Line trains between Britomart and Otahuhu due to major track works for the Newmarket station redevelopment. Passengers travelling to Otahuhu or stations further south are advised to catch Eastern Line trains from Britomart. Additional Eastern Line train services will run between Britomart and Papakura (via Sylvia Park and Glen Innes) on Saturday and Sunday, with an enhanced public holiday timetable in operation on Auckland Anniversary Day.
A great way to get to the festival is the free City Circuit bus, which connects Britomart with other key inner-city destinations such as The Edge entertainment area, Auckland University, Sky City and Queen Street. The City Circuit bus operates approximately every 10 minutes, from 8am to 6pm every day, including weekends.
Festival-goers heading to the Viaduct from Parnell, Newmarket, Karangahape Road or Ponsonby can catch The Link bus to the event. The cash fare is $1.60 one way.
Extended Northern Express bus services (in both directions) will be running every 15 minutes until 10.30pm on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January, and until 10pm on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 January.
On Friday and Saturday night after the festival, NiteRider buses will depart the Civic Theatre and St James Theatre from 1.00am to 3.00am, with 10 routes across Auckland.
Regular ferry services will be operating from various parts of Auckland directly to the Downtown Ferry Terminal.
Aucklanders planning to use public transport to and from Aquatica 08 can get more information from MAXX on (09) 366 6400 or at www.maxx.co.nz
