North Shore City media release
Slip’n slide into 2008 January 22, 2008
2008 activities kick off this month with the return of New Zealand’s biggest slip n slide, beach volleyball, extreme trampolining and a beach party.
In2it is a product of North Shore City Council’s Youth Destinations Project, which aims to get more 10 to 15-year-olds physically active in their leisure time.
North Shore City’s youth destinations project manager, Dan Kane, says in2it’s 2008 events are going to be bigger and better than last year’s.
“2008 is going to be a really exciting year for us with lots of new ventures underway.
“We’re grateful to have Youthtown on board this year, its $40,000 donation to the project means we can invest in vehicles and support new projects,” he says.
“Our first event for the year is slip‘n sliding at Stafford Park on January 27. This slide will be 50m long, 20m bigger than the previous one,” says Mr Kane.
“We’re also looking forward to celebrating summer with a beach party in association with City Impact Youth on February 8 at Browns Bay Beach Reserve.
“This will be a fantastic night out with the skate bowl under lights, beach volleyball and basketball competitions. There will be Frisbee, tug of war, sumo suits and jousting gladiator style,” he says.
“Bounce along to Marlborough Park on February 9 to try extreme trampolining.
“There’ll be two huge professional tramps and a mini board for trying some wicked flips and we’ve got a couple of instructors coming along to lend a hand.”
