Neighbourhood Support
Neighbourhood Support
One of the most important ways in combating crime, including youth crime, and to keep communities safe is to form a Neighbourhood Support group. Neighbourhood Support Auckland City is the premiere organisation fostering safer and friendlier communities in Auckland. As an organisation we can lead the way in empowering communities to be safe from violence.
Neighbourhood Support Auckland would like to remind residents and shop owners in the Auckland City Council region to contact us or their community Constable so we can help you set up Neighbourhood Support groups in your community. It is our belief that the most important way of keeping safe is at the community level, where neighbours know and look after each other with mutual friendship and respect.
Membership of our organisation is free to all and the benefits can be enormous. All areas have a Neighbourhood support organisation (see www.ns.org.nz)
Volunteers Needed: After the recent violence we are expecting a large increase in demand for our services and we wish to be able to fulfil this need. We are looking for volunteers.
If you or anyone you know would like to help out please contact us. Duties include helping to start new support groups, leaflet drops, telephone answering, making up information packs, fundraising, working bees. and many more. There is something for everyone and the opportunity to meet and work with other people on projects that will benefit the whole community and make new friends. Any support for our organisation either by contributing time or financially is gratefully received and acknowledged.
If you would like to join Neighbourhood Support and form a support group or if you are able provide help in the Auckland City Council area please contact the Chairperson, Kevin Hicks (Kevin@ns.org.nz, 027 313 8382) or your local community constable.
