It’s not too late to nominate

People interested in standing for council in the Avondale/Roskill ward have less than one week left to lodge their nominations.

Nominations for the position of councillor for the Avondale/Roskill ward, following the death of Councillor Linda Leighton, will close at noon on Tuesday, 19 February.

The by-election will take place on 9 April.

To be eligible to stand for the position, candidates must be New Zealand citizens who are enrolled as a parliamentary elector anywhere in New Zealand.

Candidate nomination papers can be obtained during normal business hours from one of the following:

• electoral office, Independent Election Services Ltd, ground floor, Bledisloe House, 24 Wellesley Street West, Auckland

• www.aucklandcity.govt.nz

• by phoning the Auckland City Council electoral officer, Dale Ofsoske on 307 7211.

A postal ballot of the 63,000 Avondale/Roskill ward electors will commence on 18 March when voting documents are delivered. All votes must be returned by noon on Wednesday, 9 April.
