New plans for a safer Queen Street – your
opinion counts
From Monday, 3 March, Auckland City Council will be asking anyone who walks, cycles, drives or catches the bus into Queen Street to comment on its proposal to reduce the street’s 50km/h speed limit to 30km/h.
The council’s Transport Committee recently endorsed the proposal as a way to help reduce the severity of injuries to pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists involved in crashes, and make Queen Street a high priority area for pedestrians.
Under the proposal, the 30km/h speed limit on Queen Street would operate between Mayoral Drive and Customs Street.
Those interested in providing their comments on the proposal can:
- collect an information brochure and feedback form from a council service centre
- visit www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/queenstreet to make a submission online
- request an information brochure and feedback form by calling (09) 379 2020.
All feedback should be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 21 March 2008.
For further information, visit www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/queenstreet.
