Open Days for Waterview Connection Tunnel Project

MEDIA RELEASE

TRANSIT NEW ZEALAND AUCKLAND REGIONAL OFFICE

3 March 2008

Open Days for Waterview Connection Tunnel Project

People interested in Transit’s Waterview Connection Project can learn all about the project at two open days this week.

The open days mark the next phase of Transit’s commitment to promote community understanding of the project which proposes building a tunnel to connect SH20 at Mt Roskill to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) at Waterview.

Principal project manager, Clive Fuhr said the open days were a chance for anyone interested in the project to find out more, meet Waterview Connection project staff and talk to other technical experts.

“People can come and get information about the project in general, or specifics like tunnelling, property rights or design elements, he said.

Tomorrow, 4 March, an open day will be held at Owairaka Primary School, Richardson Road, Mt Albert between 3.30pm and 8.30pm and at the same time on Wednesday, 5 March at the Waterview Methodist Church, corner Great North Road and Fir Street Waterview.

“We have chosen two local venues so that people most affected by the project can get to the open days. “

The open days will be followed by an information day two weeks later and then another two weeks after that.

“This gives people time to digest the information and come back to us with any particular issues they want to clarify or discuss,” said Mr Fuhr.

Comments on the tunnel proposal close on 11 April, 2008
