MacKays Crossing Project resealing progressing well
The MacKays Crossing Project resealing is progressing well.
Transit Regional Manager Graham Taylor says the contractor has made excellent progress asphalting the road after beginning the work on Tuesday night.
“I am very pleased that Kapiti motorists are now driving on the quality of road that they can reasonably expect,” Mr Taylor says.
The speed through MacKays Crossing is currently 70km/h in both directions and will be increased to 100km/h once the northbound work is finished.
“As with all of our work, this is weather dependent, but the asphalting work should be finished in the next few days,” Mr Taylor says.
No other work is planned for the project, although there will be a need for some final shape correction, which can be carried out at some stage between October 2008 and March 2009.
Mr Taylor says Transit would like to take this opportunity to thank the Kapiti Coast community for their patience during what has been a trying time for motorists, Transit and its contractor.
