Conference will help Youth Offending Teams work together
The inaugural Counties Manukau Youth Offending Teams’ conference takes place at Manurewa Marae next Wednesday.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Justice, the conference is aimed at supporting and strengthening non-government organisations and the way they work with government to reduce youth offending. The conference will provide a great opportunity for the teams to learn about the latest developments in research, policy, legislation and services.
There is an impressive line-up of presentations from community youth agencies and key-note addresses from Principal Youth Court Judge Andrew Becroft, National Manager of Youth Gangs for the Ministry of Social Development Carl Crafer and youth health expert Dr John Newman.
Coordinator for Counties Manukau Youth Offending Teams, Deidre Otene says that this is a wonderful opportunity to network, discuss the major issues teams are facing and explore new ways of working with youth offenders.
