New Bikes With Kellogg’s And Variety
Kellogg’s and Variety team up to bring an exciting and educational bike morning to 120 Mt Roskill Primary Students
Auckland, 3
July 2008 – Kellogg’s® New Zealand announced today that
it is launching its donation of 200 bikes to the Variety
Bike for Kids Programme by holding a Big Bike Morning for Mt
Roskill Primary School students.
Now in its sixth year, the Variety Bikes for Kids Programme rewards deserving children from low decile schools throughout the country with a brand new bike.
“As part of the Kellogg’s® Big Bike Morning we are giving away bikes to five deserving students who have been identified as commendable role models at Mt Roskill Primary School,” says John Rosair, Managing Director of Kellogg’s® New Zealand.
“120 students will receive a nutritious Kellogg’s® breakfast before participating in a fun morning of bike activities including technical obstacle courses, and an interactive lesson on bike safety, repair and maintenance. There will also be entertainment from unicyclists as well as attendance by celebrities, such as kids TV presenter Jo Holley, TV’s Constable Bryan of the Bryan and Bobby show, Shortland Street’s Monish Anand and The Vodafone Warriors.”
John Rosair says that partnering with Variety is an amazing opportunity for Kellogg’s® to be a part of keeping Kiwi kids active all over the country.
“Variety has been a very effective part of helping Kiwi kids reach for their goals and dreams, be that a bike or something bigger. And Kellogg’s® New Zealand feels privileged to be a part of a great programme alongside a great organisation,” says Rosair.
Lorraine Taylor, Variety CEO, says she is delighted that Kellogg’s is supporting New Zealand children through its contribution towards the 2008 Bikes for Kids programme, which will see 400 bikes presented to deserving Kiwi kids nationwide.
“We thank Kellogg’s for giving us this opportunity to help Variety give bikes to deserving children who are considered role models in their community – this recognition not only benefits the child concerned, but provides an incentive for their peers to follow in their footsteps and become good school and community citizens,” says Taylor.
Helping even more Kiwi kids get active, Kellogg’s New Zealand will also be running a promotion in specially marked packs of Coco Pops® and Sultana Bran® for the opportunity to win one of 100 kid’s bikes.
Throughout New Zealand, Progressive and Foodstuffs Supermarkets have also generously shown their support for Variety and the Kellogg’s donation of 200 bikes.
