Efu Koka Manukau’s newest councillor
Efu Koka has been elected as the new Otara ward councillor with a total of 1542 votes.
The position of Otara ward councillor was made vacant by Su’a William Sio who resigned after becoming a member of Parliament.
Mr Koka is currently a member of the Otara Community Board and his position on the board has now become vacant.
Manukau City Council’s Electoral Officer John Skelton says that voter turn-out was 24 per cent. This compares with 32.5 per cent voter turn-out for Otara in the 2007 triennial elections and 22 per cent for the 2003 Otara Community Board by-election.
