North Shore City’s Electoral Officer Peter McArthur advises that Paula GILLON and Lucy WHINERAY have been elected as the two new members for the Birkenhead-Northcote Community Board following a by-election, which concluded at midday today. Final results are: Votes Received

BANKS, Michael (Youth Voice - Better Transport) 974 BARKER, Tony (Independent) 875 COURTIER, Trevor (Sewage First) 1077 DOWLE, Janice (Local lifestyle : Heritage protection) 1413 DUNN, Ivan 2140 GILLON, Paula 2375 HENDERSON, Jack (Independent) 953 PETTIFER, Tracey-Lee (Independent) 258 ROGERS, Keith 490 TE AMO, Kuini 602 WHINERAY, Lucy (Independent) 2216 WINTER, Dave (Independent) 715 ZINO-WILLIAMS, Nancy (Independent) 89

There were 16 informal votes and 24 blank votes returned. The by-election’s three week postal voting period began on Wednesday 9 July 2008 and final voter turnout was 25.31%. More information is on the North Shore City’s website, www.northshorecity.govt.nz.
